Julia’s Restaurant celebrates 20 years

Julia’s Restaurant at 220 West Ocean Blvd. (Hwy 100) in Los Fresnos will celebrate its 20th anniversary with 20 percent off on lunch and dinner from Dec. 4 to Dec. 23. The restaurant, which specializes in Mexican and American food, seafood and steaks, opened in 1991. The Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce will hold an afternoon mixer at the restaurant on Dec. 10. Brownsville Women’s Expo slated

 

The second Brownsville Women’s Expo will take place from 2-9 p.m.Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Jacob Brown Auditorium, 600 International Blvd., Dozens of local vendors will display jewelry, purses, household items, services and more. The stage show will feature DJ K Rok, the Mariachi Margaritas, a fashion show by Toledo and Monkeyz in Tutuz, dancers, etc. Admission is free. Financing workshop

set for Dec. 6

 

The UTB-TSC International Center, in collaboration with the Small Business Administration and ACCION Texas-Louisiana, and Business and Community Lenders of Texas, will host a free workshop on financing options for small business from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at the ITEC Center, 301 Mexico Blvd., Room E-112. The event will focus on business loans and low interest rates being offered by the SBA, ACCION, and BCL. Seating is limited. Brownsville SPI

airport recognized

 

The South Padre Island Chamber of Commerce has presented Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport with its Outstanding Community Partner Award for the airport’s efforts in bringing visitors to the Island and surrounding area. Dan Quandt, chief executive officer of the Island Convention and Visitors Bureau, particularly cited the recent addition of AeroMexico international air service to Brownsville. Quandt presented the award at the chamber’s annual membership meeting at the Sea Ranch Restaurant. Michael Jones, the airport’s director of development and marketing, accepted the award.
